On Wednesday, 20 June, the MLP Gliwice logistics park hosted a grand opening of a new logistics center built by MLP Group for Żabka Poland. The owner of the Żabka and Freshmarket chains will use a warehouse facility with the total area of 24,700 sqm. Out of that space, nearly 23,800 square meters is used for warehousing purposes, including approx. 4,000 square meters of cold stores and deep freeze stores. The remaining space is used for social and office purposes.
In the project, Depenbrock Poland performed the role of general contractor and was responsible for the architectural design. Żabka’s new logistics center will provide employment for approx. 400 people.
– We are very happy to deliver this modern warehousing facility. The investment project has been completed on schedule and is tailor-made to the tenant’s individual needs. Our priority is to maintain flexible cooperation and satisfy the requirements of each company. Thanks to that we commercialize more and more space, developing dynamically our logistics parks. As a result, we steadily grow the scale of our business and increase the value of our group – said Radosław T. Krochta, President of the Management Board of MLP Group S.A.
– The logistics center in Szałsza near Gliwice has joined the logistics infrastructure of our company, made up of logistics centers in Plewiska near Poznań, in Nadarzyn near Warsaw, in Będzieszyn near Pruszcz Gdański and in Tychy. We also own 21 reloading terminals. The location of the center is associated with the intensive development of the Żabka chain in southern Poland, especially in the Upper Silesia agglomeration and in Kraków.
Silesia is the most industrialized and urbanized region in Poland, very attractive to the retail industry. The key factor in the selection of this particular location was to have a short distance from the new center to as many of our shops as possible – said Katarzyna Słabowska, Logistics Director in Żabka Poland. – Ultimately, the next center will help us facilitate the order completion and transport processes but primarily dynamically respond to our clients’ needs, while intensively developing the whole network – she added.
– The logistics park in Gliwice has still a lot of potential for further development. We are convinced that the attractive location and professional service will attract more companies that are willing to invest in the region – emphasized Piotr Krawczyk, BTS Projects Manager at MLP Group S.A.
